Plant Description
MIDOR is the most advanced refinery in Africa and is being classified as the sixth in the Mediterranean, based on technological complexity, reaching a standard of 11.5, according to Nelson Complexity Index.
Refinery Units can be summarized as follows:
- Crude & Vacuum Distillation (CDU / VDU).
- Hydrogen (H2) Plant.
- Naphtha Hydrotreater (NHT).
- Delayed Coker Unit (DCU).
- Naphtha Splitter Unit.
- Light Ends & LPG Recovery.

MIDOR has successfully completed an ambitious expansion project, increasing its refining capacity by 60% to reach 160,000 barrels per day (bpd). This expansion included the addition of key processing units such as the CDU-VDU, Hydrocracker, HPU, Kerosene Hydrotreater (HT), Diesel Hydrotreater (HT), Sulfur Complex, and Dissolvent De-asphalting unit, along with significant upgrades to the existing utilities.
With the project now fully completed, the refinery is operating at its enhanced capacity, reinforcing MIDOR’s position as a leading player in the refining industry.
