Plant Description
APC is a refinery company that has a unique position between the international refining companies. APC is fulfilling the needs of the local market from the petroleum products and exporting the excess in order to increase the national income and to save foreign currency.
Alex Petroleum Company has several operating units, mainly: 3 Atmospheric Distillation Units with total capacity about 5 mm ton/year; Vapour Recovery Unit with capacity of 100000 tons LPG per year; Solvent Production Complex Unit designed to produce hexane (Food Grade); Lube Oil Complex Unit designed for the production of lubricating oil base stoke; Re-refining Spent Oil Units aimed at producing neutral oils; Oxidized Bitumen Unit capable to produce blown bitumen packing in pallet; and finally; Kerosene Hydrotreating Unit aiming at production of Odourless Kerosene. The plant include other support facilities such as: Nitrogen Producing Unit; Hydrogen Unit; Solid Wax Pastilles Unit; Wax Moulding Unit.
Key Activities
Maintenance Planning and Overhaul Management
In line with the Ministry of Petroleum’s vision of digital transformation for all sector companies, EPROM is implementing periodic maintenance planning and overhaul management using the SAP system for all production units, facilities and warehouses at Alexandria Petroleum Company.
3D Laser Modelling Project
EPROM is implementing scanning and providing smart 3D models for Alexandria Company and all its facilities. This project is accompanied by digitizing several types of engineering drawings and creating an electronic digital technical library for all project-related documents. This model contributes to improving the efficiency and sustainability of projects, and supports the implementation of the Ministry’s directives for digital transformation in companies.
Oil Complex Units
EPROM is carrying out works including designing, supplying and supervising the installation of oil complex unit measuring devices, where the design, specification and purchase of devices have been completed and are awaiting supply for the first phase of the project.
- Evaluation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) for different units of the plant

FAFS for Marine Terminal
EPROM is participating in the project to rehabilitate and develop the berths of the Alexandria Petroleum Basin, which is used for loading and unloading petroleum imports. The project aims to rehabilitate the marine berths from Berth No. 1 to Berth No. 5 and raise their efficiency in order to reduce the time of marine tankers berthing outside the basin. EPROM is currently implementing the project to rehabilitate the fire alarm system in the Petroleum Basin in Dekheila Port. The first phase has been completed and preparations are currently underway to start the second and final phase of the project.
