Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, confirmed that the Center of Excellence for Energy Transition, affiliated with the petroleum sector, is the first specialized strategic entity to serve the petroleum sector and energy-intensive sectors in Egypt and the African continent in promoting the transition to sustainable and low-carbon energy systems, which is one of the main elements of the petroleum sector’s strategy to achieve emission reduction and energy transition.
He pointed out that the center is a strategic petroleum edifice that works to implement sustainable development goals, as its scope of services includes providing theoretical and practical training programs, holding workshops and awareness courses on energy transition, in addition to implementing technical studies and reviews to improve energy efficiency and build energy management systems according to standard specifications, as well as preparing economic feasibility studies for energy efficiency improvement projects and preparing standard specifications in the field of improving energy efficiency and analyzing energy consumption.
The center’s training programs aim to qualify technical personnel in the fields of energy transformation and improve energy efficiency through specialized programs on the latest technologies, simulation programs, and virtual reality, in addition to practical training on models of equipment used in the industry, as well as participation in campaigns to measure greenhouse gas emissions. The center’s services extend to include implementing studies related to energy transformation and qualifying companies to obtain ISO 50001 certificates for energy management systems and evaluating companies’ business performance in terms of energy consumption rates and reducing emissions, which is done according to the latest international standards and technologies, in addition to research and development work in the fields and technologies of energy transformation.
The center is managed by a coalition of ENPPI and EPROM, and is being implemented in cooperation with several international entities such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which participated in the preparatory work to establish the center, and the Norwegian company Carbon Limits, which specializes in reducing emissions from the petroleum industry. The first training programs for the center’s employees were implemented by the project consultant and experts from Japan.
The center also participated in organizing a training course and workshop with the participation of more than 60 young cadres from various petroleum sector companies, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of reducing methane emissions and presenting the available opportunities and modern technologies to reduce its emissions in the sector, in addition to learning about successful international experiences and different methodologies related to monitoring, measuring and reporting methane emissions.
The center will offer several specialized training programs in the fields of energy transformation, in addition to conducting emission measurement campaigns in several petroleum sites and evaluating the performance of energy consumption efficiency with the aim of reducing emissions and enhancing energy transformation activities in the petroleum sector.

أكد المهندس طارق الملا وزير البترول والثروة المعدنية أن مركز التميز للتحول الطاقي التابع لقطاع البترول يعد أول كيان استراتيجي متخصص لخدمة قطاع البترول والقطاعات كثيفة استهلاك الطاقة في مصر والقارة الأفريقية في تعزيز التحول إلى أنظمة الطاقة المستدامة ومنخفضة الكربون وهو ما يعد أحد العناصر الرئيسية لاستراتيجية قطاع البترول لتحقيق خفض الانبعاثات والتحول الطاقي ، مشيراً إلى أن المركز هو صرح بترولي استراتيجي يعمل على تنفيذ أهداف التنمية المستدامة حيث يشمل نطاق خدماته تقديم برامج تدريبية نظرية وعملية وعقد ورش العمل ودورات توعية بالتحول الطاقي ، بالإضافة إلى تنفيذ دراسات ومراجعات فنية لتحسين كفاءة الطاقة وبناء نظم إدارة الطاقة وفقاً للمواصفات القياسية ، فضلاً عن إعداد دراسات الجدوى الاقتصادية لمشروعات تحسين كفاءة الطاقة وإعداد المواصفات القياسية في مجال تحسين كفاءة الطاقة وتحليل استهلاك الطاقة.
وتستهدف برامج المركز التدريبية تأهيل الكوادر الفنية في مجالات التحول الطاقي وتحسين كفاءة استهلاك الطاقة من خلال برامج متخصصة حول أحدث التقنيات وبرامج المحاكاة والواقع الافتراضي بالإضافة إلى التدريب العملي على نماذج للمعدات المستخدمة في الصناعة ، فضلاً عن المشاركة في حملات القياس الخاصة بانبعاثات الغازات الدفيئة ، وأن خدمات المركز تمتد لتشمل تنفيذ دراسات معنية بالتحول الطاقي وتأهيل الشركات للحصول على شهادات الأيزو 50001 الخاصة بأنظمة إدارة الطاقة وتقييم أداء الأعمال للشركات من حيث معدلات استهلاك الطاقة وتقليل الانبعاثات، والذي يتم طبقاً لأحدث المعايير والتقنيات العالمية، بجانب أعمال البحث والتطوير في مجالات وتكنولوجيات التحول الطاقي.
ويتولى إئتلاف مكون من شركتي انبى وإيبروم إدارة المركز والذى يتم تنفيذ الأعمال به بالتعاون مع عدة كيانات دولية مثل وكالة التعاون الياباني (الجايكا)، والتي شاركت في الأعمال التحضيرية لإنشاء المركز، وشركة كاربون ليميتس النرويجية المتخصصة في مجال خفض الانبعاثات من صناعة البترول ، وتم تنفيذ أولى البرامج التدريبية للعاملين بالمركز عن طريق استشاري المشروع وخبراء من اليابان ، كما شارك المركز في تنظيم دورة تدريبية وورشة عمل بمشاركة أكثر من 60 مشارك من الكوادر الشابة من مختلف شركات قطاع البترول بهدف زيادة الوعى بشأن أهمية خفض انبعاثات غاز الميثان وعرض الفرص المتاحة والتقنيات الحديثة للحد من انبعاثاته في القطاع ، فضلاً عن التعرف على التجارب الدولية الناجحة والمنهجيات المختلفة المتعلقة بأنشطة المراقبة والقياس والإبلاغ عن انبعاثات غاز الميثان، وسيقدم المركز عدة برامج تدريبية متخصصة في مجالات التحول الطاقي بالإضافة إلى القيام بحملات قياس للانبعاثات في عدة مواقع بترولية وتقييم أداء كفاءة استهلاك الطاقة وذلك بهدف خفض الانبعاثات وتعزيز أنشطة التحول الطاقي في قطاع البترول
